YouthBuild Just-A-Start is an alternative education and work training program for out-of-school youth between the ages of 17 and 24. The program provides services to youth in the areas of education, work skills, life skills, leadership and mentoring.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the YouthBuild Just A Start Program is to develop the skills and abilities of youth in order to maximize their opportunities for personal growth and productive citizenship while involving them in the provision of real community services in the City of Chelsea, City of Cambridge and surrounding metro north communities. These community services are aimed particularly at the development and improvement of affordable housing.
The program is based on the premise that youth have the capacity for positive leadership, and that involving them in the re-building of their communities is an important element in the development of this potential. The program is committed to expanding both the perspectives of youth about the avenues that are open to them, as well as the actual avenues. This is accomplished through education, skills training, guidance, exposure to different cultural ideas, and the building of confidence. It is our belief that young people just need the key in order to open the door to their futures.
